This year, I went with some diving friends to the Baltictech conference in Gdynia, Poland, which ran from November 23rd to 24th, 2024. There were three parallel sessions in English (a few in Polish with English translation), so there were lots of diving talks to choose from.

It was an excellent opportunity to see the range of shipwreck and conservation projects that recreational-technical divers are undertaking across the globe, from Europe to Antarctica. Some well-known names spoke from industry, journalism, and diving medicine. It was also interesting to see the developments in our sport, including physiology, breathing gases, and decompression. It was well worth the time to visit—hopefully, see you there in 2026.

Travel and Substance: Take an evening flight on Wizz Air from Luton to Gdansk on Friday night and return on Sunday. An Uber from the airport is cheap and quickly booked on arrival. Stay at the Courtyard Gdynia Waterfront and take an Uber to the conference. Eat potatoes at Pyra Bar Gydinia.
